We took our second big trip of the year to Kauai in November with Fischer, which was his second flight! This flight was almost 6 hours (compared to 1.5 hour flights over summer), so it was a little harder. It was more challenging because he’s older which means he sleeps less and is more aware of his surroundings. On our way to Kauai, a worker from the airlines asked us if we wanted to change seats so we could have a whole row to ourselves. (THANK YOU TO THAT LADY!) It was great, because it gave us room to spread out and let Fischer nap and we also brought his Dockatot solely for the flight and we put it between us for him to sit in. On the way back home, I went up the desk and asked if there was a full row available and there was! So that’s my biggest TIP for flying, asking for a whole row! Fischer took 1 long nap both there and back and the rest of the time we tried to entertain him with his favorite toys.

We took our first real trip with baby to Montana for 4th of July week. He’s a pretty easy baby so we expected it would go well, but we did plan a few things to hopefully make it easier. I think we packed pretty well, but below I’m going to share the items we brought and think were TOTALLY needed and some items we learned we need to for our next trip to Kauai.

A few weeks ago we stayed at the Avalon Hotel in Palm Springs. We were only there for 2 nights, so I waited until the last minute to book us a room because I knew I wanted to use the app Hotel Tonight. If you haven't heard of it, it's an app that gathers all remaining rooms in the area you're looking and offers them at a heavily discounted rate. It's a great option for trips when you're open to any hotel. I know that Palm Springs has PLENTY of cool hotels, so I wasn't concerned with what would be remaining. Luckily, the Avalon Hotel had 1 room left, and it turned out to be one of their spacious bungalows. And we even lucked out, because their pools are open 24/7 which is a rare find.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw that we were in San Luis Obispo a little over a week ago. We headed down Friday morning, and made our first stop Krava Bowl in Avila Beach. We sat and ate it on the pier, and then took Sawyer on a long walk on our favorite Bob Jones Trail. If you haven't walked this trail before, I highly suggest it. It's so pretty, an easy stroll, and the weather is usually really nice. Most of the time we start our walk at the beginning of the Bob Jones Trail and we end on it in Avila, then eat Krava Bowl.

A few weeks ago we took our Westfalia to the Alabama Hills in Lone Pine, CA for a long weekend away. We wanted to get some sun, relax, and have a little adventure. This was only our second roadtrip in our Westfalia, and the last trip it rained almost the entire time. I'm a big fan of the desert, so when Adam showed me this place I instantly wanted to go! I hadn't even ever heard of it, but it's a similar vibe to Joshua Tree, except it's BLM land and not a national park. Which means you can camp anywhere (they have campgrounds nearby too), and your dog can roam around with you anywhere.
Read MoreOur Vacation To Kauai And Why It's My Favorite
This was hands down my favorite vacation. I can't really pinpoint what one thing made it so great, because everyday there was so fun. The island of Kauai is quite different then Maui where I'd been twice before. It's more lush then Maui, had so many different types of landscapes for being a tiny island, had the most delicious, authentic tasting food, and some of the nicest people. We spent 9 days in our VRBO that sat just a few steps from the sand, which was basically our own private beach.
