This room started as a tan box, so of course I painted it ALL white. A nice, cool white with no warm tones. We slowly got furniture for it, as we'd been sleeping on our mattress on the floor in our last few houses and also didn't have nightstands. The mid century modern dresser was a find from Craigslist when we lived in SLO, and we refinished it to have a darker stain compared to the red one it came with. Finding a good bed frame was a challenge because I actually really liked sleeping with our mattress on the floor, so I didn't want anything that would make our bed taller. Since we have so much wood with the dresser and floors, we opted out of having a wood frame. Brass is my go to (if you hadn't noticed already), so when I found this frame from CB2 I knew it was perfect!! Months later after the search for the right nightstands continued, I finally found these super cool white studded, two drawer ones from Target (some assembly required haha). Our room lacks storage space since it's too small for two dressers, so I wanted nightstands with drawers to hold more items. I was so over the standard mid century ones you see everywhere, so I was so excited to find the ones we got.
Now for the small stuff. Most of the little details in our room have meaning, with only a few new pieces. Hung above our nightstands are our personal wedding vows, which Rosey Calligraphy did for us. Adam made the Adam <3 Danielle sign in the first year we were dating (10 years ago!), and I've always hung it in each house we've lived in. The tapestry wall hanging and rug were both used at our wedding (on the head table and at the ceremony). Adam also made the wood holder to hang the tapestry from. The milk glass lamps were from Adam's side of the family, and we just added Edison bulbs because we don't love lampshades. All in all, our room is finally complete and I'm super happy with it :)
And in case any photographers out there wanted to rent our house for shoots, it's now listed online at Home Studio //
PS. Use the code Danielle10 to get 10% off your Suissly pillows or bed. Adam and I both have one of their pillows, and before we changed over to them, my neck always hurt. I highly suggest them :)
