We are back from a long weekend away in the Alabama Hills! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have thought I was in Joshua Tree, but I wasn't. I hadn't ever heard of this place until Adam showed it to me, and now I'm obsessed. It's like a less busy Joshua Tree where dogs are allowed everywhere! I'll do a full detailed post from our trip soon, once my film comes back and Adam puts together the video. One of things I love about adventuring is getting to photograph new backdrops and scenery that we don't have in the Bay Area. I'm always attracted to abandoned buildings and falling apart structures, so even though it started to rain on us, we did some photos anyway! :)
A large amount of my weekends as a kid were spent at garage sales and thrift stores. Most of my clothes were from there, and I actually loved it. Of course I still bought new clothes when I wanted or needed something specific, but the thrill of the hunt is what draws me to a thrift store even today. I love that you can find unique items that not everyone has, so you don't wind up walking around like a Forever 21 copy cat. (I love Forever 21, don't get me wrong haha) I find a lot of fun pieces thrifting, that I mix with my new clothes and it gives it a unique touch. This crochet sweater is super cute, has bell sleeves, and is the perfect light weight cover up for spring or summer. I wore it over a matching set from Forever 21, that I got at Plato's Closet, brand new with their tags still on! I actually have a similar set that I purchased last summer and I'm still obsessed with it. Talk about an easy and cute outfit, I highly suggest matching sets! :) A good thrifting tip is to stick with patterns or textures you already like. For example, I know I love my crochet crop top and shorts, so I was so excited to find this sweater! I'm always drawn to floral print anything, oversized sweaters (check the large section), sequined shirts, and anything high waisted, so these are the main items I check when thrifting!
PS. Steve Madden is having a really good sale on their booties!
