Sunday, July 8 was the day we found out we were pregnant. I had been feeling like things were slightly off with my body, so I decided to take a pregnancy test even though I hadn’t missed my period yet. I ran downstairs that morning and 3 minutes later our lives changed forever when we saw the two pink lines. It all happened quickly and I think we were shocked how fast we got pregnant, but of course we were SO SO excited!! My first thought was that babies due date would be in March, meaning during the off season for weddings haha. From this moment on, our conversations shifted to so much talk about baby stuff, life with a baby, and of course baby names. We were only 4 weeks along when we found out, so we had to wait 5 more weeks until our first doctors appointment and ultrasound. It felt like the longest 5 weeks ever!
Finally early August came and it was time for the doctors appointment. I was 9 weeks when we went in and we heard the babies heartbeat. It was such a relief to hear it and know everything was good! That afternoon we planned to do our baby announcement photos with our friend Jen Rodriguez, so after we left the doctors, we went to the store to get our balloons blown up.
I’d been thinking long and hard (for years) about how we’d announce our pregnancy one day. You see the same things over and over on Pinterest/Instagram, and I’m not a fan of cheesy, so it took a while to come up with an idea. I know large gold balloons aren’t anything new, but they are simple and to the point. I also decided that the announcement would be about “our next adventure,” so it just made sense to bring along our Westfalia. We dressed in casual clothes as if we were actually on an adventure in our Westfalia and of course Sawyer came along too. It was a super simple idea and we got the cutest (non-cheesy) photos! It was such a special day, and I’m glad we had this moment in our lives documented.
PS. I get asked a lot about this bracelet that I wear all time. You can get one for yourself here!
