I’m really excited to share Fischer’s nursery! Our decor plans changed a little from the beginning to the end, but always had the same vibe. We didn’t want a theme, as we aren’t really theme type people when it comes to decor. I wanted his room to feel like an extension of our house, design wise, and not feel like a “kids” room. As you know our vibe is Mid Century Modern, Palm Springs, desert, so that’s what we did for his room too. We brought in greens and oranges, mid century modern furniture and lighting, and put up desert photos I took on our first trip to Palm Springs a few years ago. Nursery items can get pricey, but I found some great deals while still being able to stick to the look I wanted.
A modern rocking chair that had a high back
A stylish crib sheet
A cactus print changing pad cover that went with the vibe of the room
Things we already had: This mid century modern dresser was our old dresser that we actually refinished ourselves, the toy box was mine as a kid and my dad built it for me, the standing light used to be in our old living room, and the white shelves we used in my old office. The decor on the shelves we already had as well, and Adam picked up the wood panel above the dresser from a job at work. The rug has been sitting unused for over a year now, and I was excited to finally have a place for it! The greens in the rug worked perfectly!
I purchased the macrame basket a few months ago to use for indoor plants, but it wound up not being deep enough and fit diapers perfectly!
My friend gave us the cute cactus neon light at our shower and of course it’s perfect for the room!
Lighting: We bought this mid century modern light from West Elm during a sale they were having and also got a matching one for our guest bedroom right next door
