When we were in Kauai with Adam’s family in November we decided to do family photos of the whole crew. Obviously it can be challenging trying to figure out what 7 people are going to wear (plus Jenae’s boyfriend, Ryan’s best friend, and their family friends).
They know the drill, no matchy matchy and keep it somewhat casual. Adam’s mom got her dress first and then we worked out from there. She asked my thoughts on what Adam’s dad should wear and we landed on a solid green or blue shirt. Adam had this blue and white printed shirt that I thought went well, then Jenae picked out her dress and I ordered some options from Asos. This one worked perfectly with the color scheme and tied together Jenae’s dress to her moms and also went with Adam’s shirt and the striped romper I had already picked for Fischer.
My best piece of advice is to start with one person’s clothing item (after agreeing on your level of casual or dressy) and then find clothes that have one of the colors that the first item has in it, mix solids and prints amongst all of you, and for guys don’t all wear the same colored bottoms. Having a nice tan in photos is great too and add some accessories! I also don’t suggest everyone wearing a pattern or everyone wearing solids. A mix of the two will you give you the best overall look. Also think about the photos when you’re paired off, say dad and son, or mom and daughter; make sure all combos aren’t too similar to each other.
