So it always seems like the hair we have is the hair we don't want. But I've learned that embracing the hair type you have will not only save your hair, but it's also unique to you. So many people I know straighten their hair instead of embracing the waves, or curl their instead of embracing the kinky, frizzy waves. I used to wear my hair natural until a few years when I got a Keratin treatment (twice), and for a long time after, my hair was never the same. FINALLY, just a few months ago, my natural waves were back! During the time without my natural curls, I discovered the wand and used it way too often. Combine that with the bleach used to make me blonde, my hair started thinning on the ends and breaking off. My hair grows pretty quick, but because of this, I couldn't get it to look full anymore. So I've decided to stop wanding and straightening my hair, and just embrace my natural waves. Sure, there's randomly a piece that's acting funky so I'll curl it, but I'm trying to keep the heat off my hair as much as possible. I also always air dry my hair to alleviate even more heat. Lastly, I don't wash my hair often, which I think keeps my hair healthier. I use dry shampoo when needed, but my hair doesn't really get oily which is great. If yours does, the trick is to push through it for a day or two longer, and eventually your hair will be tricked into being less oily.
So, I challenge you to put less heat on your hair and find new ways to style it! Find good hair products and embrace whatever hair type you have :) I'm excited to see where my hair will be in a few months, thanks to less heat!
